At first, I walked through the shoe Isles with a certain image or color in mind that I wanted. When I didn't find that, I almost got disappointed. However, a pair of hot pink high heels got my attention and I soon realized that there were many more of that brand and make in other colors as well. The best part about it was that they were only 10.00 dollars. Soon after, my shopping cart had gotten quite full. I had at least eight pairs of shoes, including some higher priced fancy shoes that were almost 3x the price of the others. Even though they all said size 9 and 1/2 I made it my policy long ago to never buy anything I haven't tried on. This time I began the process mainly to see if each color complimented me. I tried on the hot pink shoes and to my disappointment they didn't fit, yet they were my size. I tried blue and then green with one disappointment after the other. Why bother trying the golden bronze pair? But to my surprise, the bronze colored high heels fit. Two out of three of the fancy high-priced shoes fit as well.
I decided to go back and look to see if they had more of these shoes in a bigger size. I looked at the size tens and the green pair was there. And then I turned back again to the 9 and 1/2 and thought perhaps a wide width would fit. And to my relief, they did. Even after all that, I thought about sacraficing my feet in discomfort to keep the pink shoes but decided that my health was more important.
Now, I had three pairs of shoes that were genuine leather and inexpensive and two pairs of shoes that were gorgeous and 3x as much, and, I had no where to ware them and no clothes to match them. I thought to myself, "perhaps I should get the ones that I love the most. After all they looked great on my feet and complimented me very well. But then I came to my senses and decided that 3 pairs of genuine leather high heels that I could dress up or dress down and enjoy everyday is certainly the smarter way to shop. Let's get real, how many gorgeous pairs of shoes are just collecting dust in our closets ?
1) find a discount department store if possible
2) keep your eyes out for unexpected surprises
3) never buy what you don't try
4) don't sacrafice your health for material things
5) be smart, empty your cart of anything your not going to use
And a special thanks to the "Building 19 dept. store" for meeting my needs one more time.
