Savings that Save

Recently, I heard some very startling statistics about world hunger and the needless deaths that occur in the  thousandths every 8-12 seconds.  It was all very disheartening and I began to ask my self if I was wasting my time by blogging about fashion and instead should be using my time to raise money for these families in need.  But then I realized the importance of what I'm doing.
I live in a culture that buys food, clothing, automobiles and multiple forms of communication and entertainment.  It's who we are.  I can not change who we are.  But what I can do is show people a better way to shop.  I have learned how to get brand name items for pennies on the dollar or high quality items for less, simply because they don't have the expensive logo that you're really paying for.  See it's not about being cheap, it's about being smart.  Saving money on the things that we love is a no-brainer.
For example, Yesterday, I knew that something special was waiting for me to find it.  I got up in the morning with a little extra time before going to work, and went shopping in one of my favorite stores.  All I wanted to spend was 4.00$.  So with twenty minutes and four dollars in tow, I walked in and began browsing. I went through several racks but nothing sparked my eye.  I was almost out of time, and almost gave up when something beautiful caught my eye.  It was a DKNY shirt!  Gorgeous, Gorgeous!  And the best part about it was the price, 3.99$  A smile spread across my face that wouldn't go away for the next two hours.
But I wondered how much this shirt would've normally cost me.  So I went online to research and came to an immediate conclusion that this shirt wouldn't have been less than 50.00$ without a sale.  I had struck gold.   A normal person, perhaps with a few less responsibilities than I, would go shopping with a couple hundred dollars in hand and have no problem paying fifty dollars or more for brand name clothing.  My mission is to encourage people to shop smart so they have more money in their pockets at the end of the day and they can then, invest it in something else and/or donate a portion of it to a worthy cause, such as World Vision.  Your savings could save a life.

F.Y.I.        1)  set aside a portion of money for clothing (cash if possible, credit cards are a trap)
                 2)  do your research to find great sales/coupons
                 3)  have in mind what you want/need
                 4)  Stick to the plan so you don't end up with a closet full of regrets
                 5)  Take your savings and invest/donate it
