Your Best You

Today, I don't mind being so tall.  I feel at ease.  I'm comfortable with me.  I accept who I am.  I think I'm beautiful.  And if you ever knew the "me" behind closed doors you know that I find it hard to compliment myself and way too easy to complain about myself.  But today, I am Beautiful.  There are certain clothes that make you feel that way.  You know it for yourself.  Nobody has to tell you anything.  It's that feeling of being your best you.  I don't know.  Between the brown of the ground and the blue of the skies, I feel Alive.  And it's not like I tried hard to put this together.  I just woke up and knew that I wanted the brown and blue.  I knew the jewelry. I knew the make-up.  I knew the shoes.  It was all fashionably easy.

I'll be the first to admit.  Women can make getting dressed very complicated.  We can turn a whole day into a "What to Wear" Nightmare.  And the men of our lives would much rather prefer that we walk around in as little clothes as possible.........At the very least, it would save time.  But we can't all walk around in our beach clothes or birthday suite.   It might be fun, but unproductive...........okay, maybe it would be reproductive, but since we're not in the garden of Eden we have to work and labor and wear clothes.  Thank goodness we've come a long way from leaf coverings and animal skin.  Most people aren't comfortable in their own skin , let alone something elses'.   There's something to be said about that too.  If you are not comfortable in what you're wearing, why wear it?  My husband hates suites but he sure looks handsome in them.  He has to wear them on occasion.  There are times to bend our rules and compromise for the sake of those around us, like at a wedding.  Though it may be uncomfortable to your taste or preference, it shouldn't be uncomfortable to your body.

Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen those lovely characters in society that wear there pajamas out and about.  It's obvious that they are quite comfortable.........too comfortable.  These people would be the extreme of what I'm encouraging.  And sure, it's "decent", their body parts aren't being exposed.  You'll see them with hoodie sweaters, fuzzy cartoon pajama pants and fuzzy slippers, even.  I've seen this on grown men,  which means that either their job is testing the quality of potato chips and video games or they're in college.  Of course, women and youth do this too.  It all comes back to Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  It is their liberty to be comfortable.  And it is that level of comfort that makes the rest of us look even better.............without trying.

So F.Y.I.. ask yourself....
1.  What makes you feel like your best you?
2.  Are there certain colors that make you feel Alive?
3.  Does your fashion show a lack of care for the sake of comfort?
4.  Is it time to compromise for the sake of those around you?
(you can be comfortable in that compromise)

Whatever the answers are to those questions,
Life is Complicated enough....Keep your fashion Easy.

Save the Scary for Halloween

I wanted to dress up for Halloween as a Native American.  I'm not even sure if that's acceptable these days.  But at the very least, I know that it's in my blood line and it would be more like me honoring that heritage than mocking it.  When I tried on the costume, I felt beautiful.  I was so excited to wear it but I wasn't able to make the Halloween concert that my job was hosting and now it'll be, once again, in the closet for another year, or I'll donate it.  Never-the-less, this beautiful sweater was gifted to me and it features that Native Inspiration in its design and color palate.  At first I found it a little of a challenge to find the right bottoms to.  My first attempt was a fail.  I'm not even sure what I did.  My mind must've blocked it out.

But I knew I could "work it".  So I tried again.  I actually placed it in my closet and saw that a skirt hanging near by was the same color and "botta-bing" it clicked.  Then, I picked a pair of wooden earrings and a dragonfly necklace and I was set to go.  I wore little make-up, really just eye liner and brown lipstick and smoothed my hair back and I was satisfied with the result.  When you have a showy kind of shirt, simplicity is the key.  When you have any article of clothing that is very nice, don't try to outshine it with something else extravagant.   Let people feel amazed without feeling overwhelmed.  Excess can be stressful to the eyes.

Come on, we all know those people that overdue everything.  You see them coming near you and sometimes it's like ......."What the heck am I looking at? I feel so confused."  You're around them and leave with a headache and you don't even know why.  Your eyes are too busy trying to catch up with all the details.  I know men that are that excessive with cologne.  The smell meets you a few minutes before they arrive and remains strong after they leave.  And then, people that weren't there before are trying to figure out what that mystery smell is.  I know that was a side comment but, it's true.  Being in excess with anything we wear can be scary.  That's why all the drag-queen make up comes out for Halloween.  And hooray for one day a year when you can go a little overboard.  But PLEASE, don't be one of those people who look like you're dressed for Halloween all year round.

So F.Y.I.  1.   "Sometimes LESS Is FABULOUS".
                2.  Save the scary for Halloween

And for me, at least I have one thing I can wear year-round that makes me feel like a "little Indian Girl".

Summer Fashion with Fall Expression

I feel winter coming.  The fallen leaves are just a symbol..  We know it by the chill of the breeze, the frost on the windows, the crunch of the leaves, the stillness.......  The skies are not as clear.  But I'm a rebel.  Every year when the day-light savings time arrives, I revolt and don't change my clock and of course, after a month, I just seem more like an idiot who can't remember what time it really is.  And I'm the same way with fashion.  I'm getting the "oh no, it's winter time" itch and I still want to wear my summer dresses.  But it's not quite summer time anymore.  So I adapt them by creating add-ons.  Which simply means that I add a little of this, a little of that to create weather worthy attire that keeps hope alive.  And what I mean by "hope" is that summer feel during the fall chill.
Saturday, I wore my new soft yellow summer dress with a brown sweater, a brown belt, brown wooden ear-rings with a yellow design on them, and Brown knee-high boots.  Really, it's all about layers.  You can do this all year round.  I believe you can take an item from any time of year and  reinvent the look.  Don't let the seasons be the reason your favorite shirt, skirt, suite, pants, etc go into hiding like they're in the witness protection program.  Sometimes we really need a reminder that things don't stay the same.  Perhaps hope can come in the form of an article of clothing that's worn "after its time".  Now I'm not  talking about those outdated items that need to be burned in a fire, deep in the woods, and buried six feet deep never to be seen again OR end up in a museum hundreds of years later.   For example, I've seen men wear a favorite t-shirt to it's death like an Apocalypse happened and disintegrated all the clothing stores .  They wear that same shirt like Linus lives in his blanket from Charlie Brown.  And ladies, if your husband has one of those, you have my permission to permanently misplace it.  And if that's too risky for you, Make it into a pillow.
But that's not the insanity that I speak of.  I mean, "though an item may be out of season, it doesn't make it out of reason".  I challenge you, to experiment.  In today's economy, people can't go and replace their entire wardrobe just because the weather said they should.  A lack of cash can develop creativity, fast. Don't leave all the thinking up to the fashion magazines and super wealthy gurus.  Work with what you have.  Add a scarf, or jacket to a nice summer shirt.  Wear boots with a summer dress and a long sweater.  Though I've never tried this one, wearing stockings with shorts, high heels or boots, and a shirt and fashion jacket can be tasteful and chic.  Whatever you do, make sure that you're comfortable, cozy AND.......classy.  Anything we wear can become tacky without discretion.

So F.Y.I  when taking the seasons with you
          1)  Work your wardrobe. You don't have to replace it.
          2)  Layer up with scarves, jackets, warmer shoes, and seasonal accessories
          3)  Be cozy comfortable and classy

I'm a shining star

I have no words to say.  This is me on a regular day.
I'm wearing a jean jacket purchased at $2.00,
a black t-shirt under an "urbanvibe" sequined tank top/dress that cost $1.00
(I'm tall so it's a shirt for me)
A pair of grey leggings of the Alfred Sung PURE brand purchased at $5.00
And Blue wedge sandals
(Every item but the shoes was purchased at the Salvation Army)

My future's so bright I gotta wear shades

I'm a shining star, thanks to sequins

Reaching for the sky
just got easier in these stacks

Resting in the sun

This is how I   F.Y.I 4 Less.  My identity doesn't come from wearing name brand items.  It comes from first "knowing who I am" and next, from wearing what is comfortable and makes me feel confident.  If it cost $1.00 or $100.00 dollars, it shouldn't matter.  Fashion is what you do with what you have.

How do you F.Y.I4Less ?  If you have a Fabulous story to tell.  Leave a comment and share your fab find.

Fall Day Fab

For some time I've been considering logging my outfits everyday.  In the last week, I've worn some outfits I really love.  And this is one of them.  To be honest with you.  The orange sweater looked a little weird.  I loved the color but wasn't so sure about the shape. I don't have anything in my wardrobe like it.  But I said "hey!, it's worth a shot".  I can try something new.  Sure enough, I loved it.  It's not my typical.  As a matter of fact, I don't even think I have a typical way to dress.  I just try to be me.  But I'm about as sporadic as the weather in New England.  One day you'll find me in a dress and the next, I'll have on jeans with a suite jacket.........Now that's something I haven't featured yet.
But Change is good. It happens with or without you. Trying new things is even better.   However, that's no guarantee   It's about as scary as a grandma wearing fish-net stockings.  And if you happen to be one of those, well.....good luck with that.  But hey, fashion is all about self expression.  There are no limitations, but there should be.  I think there really should be a fashion cop,  Pleeaaase, somebody write some tickets for the wrong people wearing spandex, or wearing stockings like they're leggings.  But what's the use of freedom if you can't be FREE.  One of the world's most famous books says "It is for freedom that we were made free"  That's GOOD NEWS!  But it should've came with a caution...."Some people might take this to an extreme. I've also heard that "there's a reason for everything.  Perhaps we need those people because how would we know what normal is without them?  Then, once we find what normal is, we reinvent it.  So, Here's to Freedom, Being normal, Being weird, and ........just being Who We Are!

Zero Dollars Down

Just when I think I'm at a standstill, an unexpected gift lands in my hands.  We all go through these seasons when, like Autumn, things start falling off and life takes a "chill pill".  We can't always do life full speed ahead like it seems to be in those summer vacation days. We transition from stage to stage just like nature.  And sometimes, our source of money dries up like the leaves of the trees and crumble beneath our feet.  What do we do?  Do we go into hibernation and sleep through the dry, dead seasons of life?  Do we wait for our finances to be in full bloom again?  No.  We trust that life will bring those surprise "Indian Summers" where an unexpected warm day invites us to breathe easier, soak up the sunshine, look at the sky above us instead of the problems among us.
The gift that landed in my hands was like that.  It reminded me that good things happening is not a product of the money that you have.  It is not a servant to your means. It is just life, or God or Grace smiling down on you. What ever word suites your fancy.  Something beyond your control drops a reminder that you are loved.  You are special.  You are seen.  And sometimes, it's the fruit of the kindness that you've shown others.  When you give, sometimes, it is given back to you.
But why is our pride a little shaken when someone gives us something?  I'm not ashamed to accept a gift, however asking for help can be a little unnerving.  I used to say no to offers of kindness and then one of my friends gave me a firm "talking to".  She might have even used a few choice words to make sure I knew that if someone offers me something,  I better take it! So what gifts or opportunities have you passed up recently?  Was it a matter of pride, or embarrassment?  Get over yourself!  Take the help!  "What if I don't need it", you say?  Then consider it inspiration to "pay it forward".
Gifts are little footprints of love.  I'm not saying that as a 100% fact.  But even if you don't believe it for yourself, take the opportunity to leave some footprints of your own.
I recently accepted a bag of clothes from an unexpected source.  I was amazed at how personal all the items felt.  Like they were hand picked for me.  I can admit, I felt loved.  I felt visible.  Not everyone will understand that.  But to those who will; someone sees you.  Their are gifts waiting for you too.  And they come with Zero Dollars Down.

F.Y.I.   During this season, many people change their wardrobe to accommodate the changes of temperatures,  styles, and colors. It's the perfect time to clean out your closet and donate what you no longer want or need.  Give A Gift.  Accept A Gift.  And Remember, You Are A Gift.

1 Dollar Green Day

I love green.  It happens to be my favorite color.  To me, it represents life, beauty, vitality, hope, expectancy.  Every time I see a little green leaf appear on a tree after a harsh winter, I know that the times for new beginnings are near.  There are so many different shades.  The Evergreens speak endurance, Olive green like oil for your soul, Basic Green like energy, Forest green of mystery, Neon green like hyper happiness, Apple green deliciously teasing.  And let's not forget Kermit the Frog Green, for the common everyday person that blends into the world around them.  I don't know, but when I wear it, I feel refreshed and whole like a flower fulfilling its purpose.  It has nothing other than the responsibility of standing and growing and yet, without them, our world is lacking something.

So here I am in my green sweater dress, enjoying my day in the freshness and cool sunlight of the beginnings of fall in South Portland.  It's nothing extravagant.  Nothing to brag about.  But it's me feeling comfortable among the trees and grass and breeze.  That's the way we should dress when we're not busy falling in line with the business of life.  We have to break from our routine and put on a kick-back outfit and just be.  Just Breathe.  Just sit a little while and be no one else but who we are.

That is green.  Living life and loving living.  Not just existing.
When's the last time you had a Green Day?

The best part yet:
Is that the cost of me to blend in with the world around me, was just 1 dollar, and the time it took me
to look up and find one item out of place, in the midst of a shoe rack, and realize it was a gift just for me,
that came unexpectedly.

Gray Money

You are my Sunshine, my only  Sunshine.  It makes me happy when I wear gray........

Gray has some real negative connotations associated with it.  Whenever I think of gray, I feel a little sad.  Gray skies..... the gray areas of life when you don't have clear answers or a clear path to take.  I couldn't even think of anything in nature that showcases the color gray until my husband took me to Fort Williams in Portland Maine this past friday.  And it was among the rocks that I felt right at home   Silver, however, is like taking the color gray and pimping it out, giving it some bling, shining it up real nice.  But gray, good ol' basic gray, is like cinder blocks, sky scrapers and factories with smoke stacks.  Yet, I love to wear gray.  Not only is it a great compliment color, but this past week, I realized that it was able to stand alone.  Gray Had The Spotlight.
It all started with a desire to have a gray sweater dress.  I don't know, it just dawned on me one day that I had purple, blue, brown striped, tan, magenta, but not gray.  And I wanted one.  So when I went back-to-school shopping with my girls, my daughter actually found it in the sweater section and I loved it.  It was my size, a great price, but it wasn't my day.  That day it was all about the girls.  A week later, I decided I would take an hour for "me" time and went back to the store to see what little treasures were hiding among the clutter and when I finally made it to the sweater department of my favorite thrift store, it was hanging there, waiting for me with a half off tag attached to it.  Woo Hoo! Today was my lucky day.  I mean, sure it was at a lesser price to began with, but a discount is a discount!
After that, it just got better.  My husband had said that he wanted me to buy designer stockings and I rarely will wear them, but I decided to look anyway.  Inside a whole bin of ugly, someone had discarded another dress of gray.  It was a perfect fit too!  I even found a pair of pants that has been the closest I've come to skinny jeans and they're not jeans at all.  You can call them "skinny grays".
It Was a Gray Day.  And for once, I don't mean that in a bad way.  For two dresses and a pair of pants, I only paid $8.50.  As a matter of fact, I think gray is the new color of sunshine.  You should try it! You may like it too.  Set aside your Gray Money today!

The $1.00 T-shirt experiment

I never really celebrated Halloween.  It could have something to do with my mother's home-made costumes made of sheets, old belts, and maybe an occasional sash which meant you were either a shepherd, a disciple or Jesus of the Bible.  Which, if you're a guy, would somehow make sense, yet be awkward  because it was still a dress.  And as a girl, it was always the ugliest dress being paraded around when the other girls were all either a princess, an angel, or witch.  I almost would've preferred being a witch because at least it came with accessories.  A broom and a hat.
But the reason I'm bringing this up is because I've always liked to dress up and Halloween seems to be the ultimate day to express freedom of personality and creativity.  I mean, sure, most women dress up like something off a street corner on that day.  "Yeah, It's Halloween!! I can wear my lingerie to work today and nobody would care!"  It's sad but true, and let me clear this up right now.......THAT WOULD NOT BE ME.  However, there's something about going out of your element and trying something new and fresh, something bold and daring, something FUNKY, and I don't mean that in a smelly way.
For some of you, that might mean green hair or a pair of knee-high rainbow striped socks, or wearing a primary color for the first time in your life instead of those "safe" earth-tones.  I'll be the first to admit, there are days when I want to blend in with the rest of the world.  Back in the day, it was more because I was uncomfortable with who I was.  I didn't like my name, let alone, what I was wearing.  I didn't want to stand out above the crowd, though I did want to fit in the crowd.  Finding ways to be an individual and making my own fashion judgments, regardless of who famous is modeling it or not, seems to be an everyday experiment.

Today, I'm experimenting with a t-shirt.  I'm just a little out of my element on this one.  I don't really like
t-shirts.  They seem so ........ lazy.  Instead of playing dress-up, I was dressing down.  But when I saw this shirt and put it with this skirt, it was an Ahhhh moment.  What made it even better was my black fedora and leggings to pop the style out even more.  I wouldn't say it was cute, or beautiful, it was Funky.  And, I guess, that's all right with me.  Now don't feel bad if t-shirts are the main component of your wardrobe.  IF YOU CAN ROCK IT, DON'T LET MY OPINION STOP IT.

So F.Y.I  1)  Never put your style in a box.
                2)  Be free to try new things.
                3)  Love who you are but don't Limit who you are.
                4)  Don't wait for Halloween to have fun with fashion but keep it (family friendly)

The Power of 5....$$$$$

I know you can't hear it right now, but I've got a song in my head by Young MC  from the early 90's called "Bust A Move".  And I could be a run-way model strutting down the cat walk to that song in the dress I just bought.  It wasn't because it was the color of deep love or decorated with a band of gold and bronze colored sequins but because I felt like "BAM!!"  Straight out of an old Batman and Robin comic book with the words flying through the air.  Or even like a "Smooth Criminal" when I practically stole that dress for a mere $5.00.  But hey, it wasn't my fault it was so cheap.  I just happen to be in the right place at the right time.
Think about it!  I just bought a dress for the same cost of a double whopper with cheese from Burger King.  AND.... it looks better on me.  The rich colors make my skin glow instead of the abdominal pudge and greasy skin complexion that is sure to happen after you "have it your way".  The funny thing is, I wasn't even looking.  It just popped out at me like a psychotic jack-in-the-box.  So who am I to deny myself the opportunity to dress for less.   Well, I've denied myself many times but when it's your season, it all fits.  And it FIT.  I didn't even have to try the dress on to know that it was my size.  It's hard enough finding the right size clothing when I'm so tall and under weight ( by the doctors standards ).  Who's keeping track anyway?  Okay, honestly I do, about every other day I'm checking my weight because I hate being so thin so when I find an outfit that makes me feel great just the way I am, AND it's within my financial range, I have to buy it.....okay, I don't have to buy it but if feels gooooood when I do.  Five dollars hasn't gone far for many years.  It's kind of like that quiet person who never speaks but when they do, every body is amazed at what they have to say.  This week, the power of Five made a strong statement.  I think it said "I can get'r done"

There's  not a whole lot to say about this deal.  Except that it was Fabulous.   And what better to wear it with than Tear Drop earrings and a pair of Gold leather high heels.  The only problem is that at present, I don't have anywhere to wear it.  But like I said before, "make an ordinary day extraordinary when you wear something unexpected".  Maybe I'll take my own advice.  Tomorrow seems promising.   It's the perfect dress to wear with a little cool in the air and sunlight in your hair.

Thanks for visiting Fab Your Image 4 Less and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

How tall is Too Tall?

I'm 5'10"and 3 quarters of an inch last time I checked.  That makes me tall, for a woman, especially here in New England.  I remember when I moved here from the Midwest and I went grocery shopping for the first time.  Little kids were saying "mommy mommy, look! she's so tall!"   And in my mind I was saying "what happened to all these people, why are they so short?  Is it something in the water?"  I felt like a GIANT.  Most of the adults were about 6 inches taller than my 7 year old.  Even in the Midwest, I was taller than most of my peers until I was in high school.  I remember walking down the halls as a freshman so amazed that there were guys taller than me.  It was actually on my list of qualities for a spouse. "Must be tall".  So if I'm living in a place where I stand, naturally, taller than most of the adults, both men and women, why would I chose to wear high heels?

Somewhere deeply planted in my adolescent mind was a rule that if you were tall, you didn't wear high heels.  They were just for short people because they needed a lift.  I don't think anyone told me that.  It just..... "made sense".  So once again, I had put limitations on myself based on what I thought was an object of necessity rather than an expression of individuality.  Shoes ARE an element of our creativity.  I'm not saying that as a fact, but, while a great majority possesses them as a utility for everyday function, the gift of wealth has allowed many, another venue of which to exercise freedom.

I have tapped into that freedom in the last 5 years.  I've gone through major transformation.  I no longer dress for approval, I dress for the fun of it.  Small pumps give my foot a little shape, but most often, I wear 3-4 inch high heels.  In fact, 99% of the time that I go shoe shopping, I walk out with another pair of heels, even though, I have full intent of buying flats.  The problem is, if you want to know the truth, I have big feet and my legs are skinny, so instead of practicing the historical art of Chinese foot binding, I just wear heels to make my feet look smaller.  And whenever I try on flats, unless they're sandals, it just feels like I'm walking in flippers.  But the real question is, "How Tall is Too Tall?"  Is there a limit?

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to fit everyone but I think it really comes down to, "At what point are you unable to walk with poise? and can you still fit through the average door?"  Some of the popular stilettos of today with the really thick soles have people walking like they just had an enema or one of those uncomfortable examinations that leave you red in the face.  If you find yourself walking like this, return the shoes and get a lower pair.  Another indicator, is if your significant other is uncomfortable when you wear them.  (Here's a side note:  "The beauty of a woman should bring out the strength of a man.")  If your wearing a pair of super stacks, makes your other half self conscious,  do him a favor, don't wear them when you're with him.  And Finally, The true "tell tell" sign is confidence.  The other day, I put on a pair of high heels that I've worn before with a dress, except this time, I had on Capri's.  I didn't like the image.  I felt stupid.  It just wasn't a good look.  Wearing the shoes with the pants made me look too tall like I was walking on stilts.  Though I was color-coordinated, I didn't have the confidence that I needed to step out into the world.  So I changed my shoes.  Here's another side note:  When a woman feels confident, she walks taller any way.

So How Tall is Too Tall?   The sky is the limit!  If you can work it! Wear It!

Fabulous Toes

I remember when I got my first pedicure.  It was an experience that was suited for a queen.  Talk about mouth-wide-open-and-drooling-on-the-floor relaxing.  (mwoadotfr)  That one wouldn't fly in the texting community but it sure works for me in this moment.  Who knew strange people touching your feet, rubbing on your legs and speaking in a foreign language could be so exhilarating.  No offense intended, I'm just saying, in what other circumstance would that be normal.  But I'm sure glad it's a service I can afford to have every once in a while.
I loved it.  What's not to love?  Any thing that takes one of the most unattractive parts of the human body and makes them into a work of art should be heralded.  I've seen some pretty nasty feet.  What these people do should be considered a modern-day miracle.  Beyond the miraculous, it's really like carrying sunshine in your shoes.  I don't know how many times I glanced at my feet just happy to see them all painted so perfect. It made me feel so feminine and beautiful.
There are days when the toesies aren't so rosy, and the pocket book isn't producing any favors, either.  What then?  About half a year ago, I was introduced to toenail stickers.  My friend stepped into my house showcasing the most awesome toes I've seen in a while.  They aren't lee-press-ons.  They are the most creative designs manufactured for toes in every shape and size. Some of them were so intricate, at first, I thought, "what person took the time to paint all those tiny details and did you have to pay extra?  It turns out that they were store bought and you could get them for the price of $5.00 to $8.00 dollars.  How awesome is that?!  You can buy yourself a pair of fabulous toes for less than 10 dollars and they last for a couple weeks or more.
Sure, it's not a luxurious experience but nobody's going to know that except you.  And if YOU can live with that ............ What the world doesn't know, won't hurt them, in a matter of feet, that is.   So what are you waiting for?  You can Fab Your Image 4 Less when  you buy toenail stickers, and the only line you have to wait in is the checkout line.
Don't get me wrong!,  every lady deserves a pedicure, and I would highly recommend it for some men who look as if they're still living in caves, but for those seasons that the common world is familiar with, when finances are as slim as a super model on a water only diet, we need those perks that don't punish the pocket book.  Like the old song "I'm walkin on sunshine.  Whoa" It DOES, in fact, feel good.  More than Good, It's FABULOUS!!!  So stick it on your calendar to enjoy a pedicure or have a toenail sticker adventure.

God Wants to Redeem Beauty as His Idea

"On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean.  No one looked on you with pity or compassion.  Rather, you were thrown out ...for on the day you were born you were despised.
Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there I said to you, "Live!"  I made you grow like a plant in the field.  You grew up and developed and became the most beautiful of jewels.  Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, you who were naked and bare.
Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness.  I gave you my solemn oath and entered into covenant with you, ...and you became mine.
I Bathed you....Washed you...and Poured oil over you.  I put beautiful clothes on you made with embroidery and sandals of leather on your feet.  ..... I adorned you with jewelry:  I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring in your nose, earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.
So you were adorned with gold and silver and costly fabric.  Your food was fine flour, honey and olive oil.  You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen.  And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, Because The Splendor I had Given You Made Your Beauty Perfect ...........Declares the Sovereign Lord!"
                                                                                                         Ezekiel 16: 4-14
From the Greatest Book ever written

The first time I read this passage, I might have blushed.  It seemed to me to be so intimate, romantic, unexpected.  You see although this passage is meant to be an allegory .... symbolic of God's compassion over a wounded people and how he healed them,  it spoke to me on a different level.  I grew up listening to preachers and pew sitters talk about beautiful women like they were the devil, himself.  Like all the sin of the world rests on the shoulders of a beautiful woman and her powers to allure and persuade.  I remember being so angry at beautiful women, blaming them for the broken homes and hearts, and dreams.  I hated them, and yet I wanted to be them because they were the ones that got the love and attention that I so craved.  They got the acceptance, the leg-up in the world, at least in my childhood perspective.  But never had I ever heard anyone speak of beauty as a means to bring glory to God.  That beauty was, in fact, a gift and not a curse.  If beautiful women were such a weapon in the hands of evil,  why would God use a beautiful woman to describe his ultimate form of restoration?

In American culture, we are accustomed to seeing beautiful women as sexual idols.  We are either, tempted by them, tortured by them, avoid them all together, or by rare occasion, inspired by them.  Truly inspired, not just physically inspired.  Have we ever considered them as a means to point back to God?  I remember feeling shame when I felt beautiful or even embarrassment when I would wear something extra feminine.  I thought I was some how breaking the rules like I had slipped onto the other side........the bad side.  I thought that in order to be a christian I had to suppress my femininity otherwise I was somehow working for the "evil one".  But when I knew for the first time that my beauty had come from God........it was a freeing moment.   I wasn't some tool to wreck homes and other women weren't my arch enemy.  I didn't have to be scared of other women just because of how they looked.  I didn't have to be scared of being beautiful, either.
I was also taught to believe that jewelry like nose rings and such were objects of vanity and sin as well.  Yet, this was the picture God painted for us to see how He takes something broken and restores it.  So then, what is the problem?  It's what we chose to do with these gifts that makes the difference.  Any gift that is given has the potential to be misused and abused.   I don't know about you, but whenever I see something beautiful I immediately think "Great job, God!"  Whether it be, flowers or forest, waterfalls or weeping willows, Sunsets or seashores, men or women. It is the splendor of God that makes beauty perfect. It has been the splendor of that same compassion and love that my own beauty has come forth.
I'm tired of the porn industry degrading the value of what was to be the pinnacle of creation.  It's time for Beauty to be attributed back to God. An artist that passionately creates should be acknowledged.  Because the creating of Woman was the pinnacle of all He did, she is worthy of Praise not Perversion.  After all, He said that it was "Very Good".

I am Letriah Masters and I believe God wants to Redeem Beauty as His Idea.

Great Deals at TARGET!

Today I went to Target.  Or should I say "Today I hit the Target" because that's exactly what I did.  As you may know, I love to shop at thrift stores but there are certain items that have to come new and jewelry is one of them.  I have no hesitations buying nice jewelry, when I have the opportunity.  When I get coupons in the mail for Kohls, Fashion Bug, and Target, you would think it's Christmas morning.  I'm like Flash, running full speed ahead.  Well most of the time.   This time it was even better.  I had a gift card to spend.  Spending money that's given to you is way better than spending your own money.  That's my opinion.
So Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to shop on a July, Summer day.  One advantage of shopping in a thrift store is I generally leave with a complete outfit.  In a department store I have to be way more decisive than my nature wants to be.  Which is why my husband turns pale in the face and loses oxygen when he goes shopping with me.  The solution to that problem is, I go shopping alone and my indecisiveness stops at the onset of a headache.   I must confess, I was way better today.
1).     I started with a basket full of options, laid them all out on the counter according to what I
absolutely love and what I really like.
Then when I had discarded the "really like" group................
2).     I  looked at all the merchandise to see which items would compliment each other.
3).     Next, I applied my pricing cap to eliminate any other options.
4).     And at the check out lane I made one last adjustment after taxes were applied.
After one hour of shopping, I had a bag full of treasures to inspire new outfits and combinations I haven't thought of yet.

On a side note.  I looked at clothing too and discovered some amazing clearance sales for shirts, dresses, skirts, swim wear, and more.  These items were as cheap as 5.00$ to 20.00$ with their 50% off sales and 30% off sales.  I noticed purses, wallets, and scarves were also a great buy.  If you're looking to Fab Your Image 4 Less, check out Target.  With them, You won't miss the mark.

Now it's time to show you what I found.
